Visa Escort Program

As the official payment sponsor for the Total AFCON 2019, Visa was granted rights to manage the player escort program for the tournament. Leveraging this, Visa aimed to increase its brand awareness and spotlight this partnership across Africa.

A central campaign theme #VisaUnstoppableStories was rolled simultaneously, across several African countries to identify talented kids for its Player Escort Program to walk their favorite soccer star onto the pitch during live matches.

To launch this campaign in Nigeria, H+K organized a digital campaign dubbed #VisaUnstoppableStories, which required parents to share videos of what makes their children unstoppable. This campaign was amplified across several top tier third party social media platform after which  three unstoppable kids were identified from this campaign.

H+K also facilitated a partnership with Nigeria’s No.1 news media, Channels TV, for its International Football Tournament where two other talented kids were selected.

H+K developed and published stories around the campaign in the media across broadcast, online, digital and print platforms, positioning Visa as a partner of choice through its Player Escort Program

Overall, the campaign garnered a total of 75 pieces of coverage with an estimated reach of 91.8M. A notable result of the campaign was the media exposure for Basil Okpara, a 9-yr old serial game developer and one of the winners of the program, who received recognition from CNN international with his unique story.
