Nigeria’s First Ever Bob-sled Team

In February 2017, the first ever Nigerian Women Bobsledders, qualified for the Winter Olympics sponsored by #TeamVisa. H+K was tasked to amplify the partnership with a 2-day visit of the Nigerian bobsled team to Lagos.

A communications strategy was developed for print, online, broadcast and social media, to create more visibility for the Visa brand.

H+K kicked off the campaign with a media tour to Beat FM, Classic FM, Naija Talks and LagosTalks FM. H+K also initiated broadcast interviews with international media – BBC, Reuters, AFP, CNN. The bobsled team were profiled on 53 extra and made the cover page of ThisDay Style – a leading lifestyle magazine, as well as other top-tier  publications. A press conference was organized for the team with sports media.

The media relations programme achieved over 74 pieces of coverage across print, online and broadcast platforms. The H+K influencer campaign was also a useful tool to drive the conversation, with hashtags #NigerianBobsledTeam and #NgWinterOlympics.

At the end of the campaign, H+K succeeded in creating massive awareness for Visa’s support of the Olympics and the Nigerian Bobsled  team, both locally and internationally.
