Atletico Madrid in Nigeria

In June 2018, LaLiga through collaboration with MultiChoice Nigeria, brought Atletico Madrid to Nigeria to play a friendlies match with the Super Eagles.

H+K was tasked to create a campaign and raise awareness about the match and LaLiga’s aim to give Nigerian fans a feel of the Spanish football experience.

H+K developed a 3-phased strategy plan to build momentum before the match, during the match and sustain communications after the match.

To garner awareness about the visit, we began with an influencers campaign to drive conversations on social media. A press conference was also organized to engage print, online and broadcast media in relaying the objectives of the Spanish team in Nigeria.

H+K developed content around the match, managed media partners, and organized the filming and photography of the match.

The media relations programme achieved over 320 pieces of coverage across print, online and broadcast platforms. At the end of the campaign, H+K succeeded in creating massive awareness for LaLiga’s support of local teams and Nigerian football.
